The Nigerian international moved from 36 Lion FC in 2021 to pursue his European dream with Belgian club, KSC Lokeren.
Nigerian international, Yusuf Lawal has agreed to a three-and-a-half-year contract with FC Arouca of the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
The Portuguese club announced the signing of the 24-year-old winger from Azerbaijani outfit, Neftci PFK.
The Nigerian winger 36 Lion FC in 2017 decided to join Belgian team KSC Lokeren to pursue his European dream.
Before joining to Neftci PFK, the Nigerian left winger spent three seasons at Daknamstadion and recorded four assists in 22 games in the domestic league.
However, The Nigerian forward made 88 appearances across all competitions for Neftci PFK scoring six goals and registering 19 assists.
The winger has joined his new team, according to the club’s announcement.
The team wrote: “Yusuf Lawal, Nigerian winger, is the latest addition to FC Arouca!”
However, the Nigerian explained why he chose the club on the club’s official website.
“I chose FC Arouca because it’s a beautiful club, with a very close connection with the fans,”
“I want to help the team to achieve the best ranking possible. I will do my best and fight with the team.” Lawal said.
Lawal will be eager to make his debut as his team faces a difficult test today against the League leaders, S.L. Benfica.
Arouca is presently seventh in the standings with 26 points earned from 17 games.
