The Partenopeans had a great start to the season, but they were off-color when they resumed action against Inter Milan
Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli believes Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen deserves most of the blame for Napoli’s 1-0 loss to Inter Milan.
Napoli had a great first half of the season, maintaining a 15-game unbeaten streak in the Serie A.
However, they were faced with a stern test against former Champions Inter Milan in their first game of the year.
The Nerazzurri had a poor start to the season, and they were looking to redeem their image in the second half of the season.
Coach Luciano Spalletti was boosted by the return of his star man Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and of course, Osimhen was tasked with leading the frontline.
However, Napoli were a shadow of themselves. The midfield was off, and they failed to fashion out enough chances to trouble the Inter Milan defense.
Osimhen had a big chance to score, but he fluffed his lines from close range. Also, his positioning on the night was questionable.
Former Juventus striker Ravanelli was disappointed with the display he saw, as he believes the Partenopeans could have done better.
“Inter played a great match,” Ravanelli told Napoli Magazine.
“They have many merits because they played the match like the one with Barcelona, with big hearts, great defense, and great pressing.
“They wanted the victory with character and he deserved it, for Napoli several important players failed, one above all Osimhen. Napoli did less than their possibilities.”
Napoli have a chance to redeem themselves when they play Sampdoria on Sunday. Osimhen would look to help his side return to winning ways and keep their title ambitions in good shape.
