Former official claims referee made the ‘valid’ decision to cancel Dessers’ goal against Juventus

Former Italian referee in his own opinion believes that Giovanni Ayroldi was right to cancel Cyriel Dessers goals against Juventus.

Former referee, Luca Marelli, claims that Cyril’s Dessers goal for Cremonese against Juventus was right to be cancelled.

The Italian in his analysis of the contact between the Nigerian International and Brazilian’s Danilo, leading to a cancellation of a possible lead against Juventus.

However, two goals were disallowed in the match, including one by Emanuele Valeri who was offside when he pounced on a long pass from Matteo Bianchetti and nodded it over Wojciech Szczsny.

Meanwhile, in the 22nd minute of the game, the Nigerian striker had the ball in the back of the goal, but the referee disallowed it for a foul on Danilo after reviewing VAR.

The former official feels that Giovanni Ayroldi made reasonable judgements in the match between Juventus and Cremonese despite the circumstances that may have resulted in a goal.

“It was a fairly calm day, the only episode discussed was the contact between Dessers and Danilo.” As reported by calciocremonese, he remarked.

“Ayroldi whistles immediately and thus cuts out the VAR, who would not have intervened because it was a field evaluation” he told DAZN.

“In my opinion it’s not a mistake, it’s a valid assessment of the pitch: Dessers’ movement is to move Danilo from the position he had taken, in an irregular manner in my opinion.

“the goal was rightly disallowed, perhaps he was a bit hasty in his whistle ”. he explained.

With just 7 points in their 16 Serie A games, Cremonese are mired in the relegation zone. But when they go to Verona, Massimiliano Alvini’s players will be hoping to grab a few points to stay in league.
