Cremonese 2-3 Monza: Dessers’ strike is not enough as poor Grigiorossi sink deeper

The Grigiorossi have been poor in recent weeks, and they continued with that form again against lowly Monza

Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers scored for Cremonese, but his goal was insufficient, as they fell to a 3-2 defeat to Monza at the Stadio Giovanni Zini.

Cremonese have been abysmal in Serie A this season. They have failed to win any of their 18 Serie A game. The Grigiorossi have managed just seven points from an available 54.

However, they were looking to put an end to their rotten run when they welcomed Monza, who have been decent.

Grigiorossi boss gave Nigerian strikers David Okereke and Dessers spots in the first eleven.

Nonetheless, Cremonese failed to impress from the blast of the whistle. Patrick Ciurria put Monza in front after just eight minutes, then Gianluca Caprari scored the second for Monza in the 19th minute from the spot.

Okereke was poor in the first half and he got a yellow card for all his troubles after he committed a foul.

Caprari scored his second of the game in the 55th minute, to put Monza three to the good.

Cremonese attempted a comeback late in the game, with Daniel Ciofani scoring in the 67th minute to make it 3-1

Dessers scored in the 83rd minute to make it 3-2 and ensure a frenetic end to the game. But Monza held out for the 3-2 victory.

Cremonese remain rooted to the bottom of the Serie A, eight points away from safety.
