Two Nigerian stars help Adana Demirspor claim vital result against Karagumruk

Adana Demirspor needed a result against Karagumruk to stay in touch with the top of the Super Lig, and their Nigerian stars turned up

Nigerian stars Babajide Akintola and Henry Onyekuru featured for Adana Demirspor in their 2-1 victory over Karagumruk.

After over a month pause, Adana Demirspor returned to Super Lig action at the Yeni Adana Stadyumu against Karagumruk.

The Blue Lightning had a great start to the season but they failed off weeks before the World Cup break. But they were looking to reset and get back into their groove.

Adana Demirspor started the game well, with Emre Akbaba scoring in the 11th minute to give them a 1-0 lead.

However, former Liverpool man Fabio Borini drew level for Karagumruk eight minutes later. Unfortunately for the away side, Adana Demirspor retook the lead just before halftime.

Super Eagles striker Onyekuru had a good showing for the home side. He put the ball in the net, but it was ruled out for offside. Still, he registered four shots two dribbles, and 17 accurate passes.

Akintola, who saw 68 minutes of action had a 100 percent pass accuracy, 31 touches, and one clearance.

Adana Demirspor held out for the 2-1 win, and the result keeps them third on the Super Lig table, three points below table toppers Galatasaray.
