Terminators! Nigerian strikers paint Spain red with goals

The big leagues are on break, but some Nigerian players are doing the business for their clubs in friendly games

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala scored for Barcelona in their 4-0 thumping of Alhama Femini at the Johan Cruyff Stadium.

Barcelona Femini locked horns with Alhama Femini in their 12th game of the season. The fixture was a perfect example of two sides with contrasting fortunes. While Barcelona sit at the top of the Spanish League, Alhama ait rock bottom.

The difference in fortunes showed very early, as Barcelona opened the scoring in the 4th minute through Claudia Pina.

Salma Paralluelo then scored the second for the Spanish Champions in the 31st minute to give them a two-goal cushion heading into the break.

Bruna Vinamala scored the third for Barcelona in the 58th minute before Super Falcons star Oshoala supplied the fourth in the 86th minute. Oshoala’s goal was Oshoala’s fourth of the season in the league.

Still in Spain, Super Eagles striker Josh Maja scored the winner for Bordeaux in their 2-1 victory over Brentford.

Brentford and Bordeaux locked horns in a friendly fixture at Girona.

Brentford coach Thomas Frank fielded a relatively weak side, as he gave opportunities to some of the players from the B team.

Despite fielding a young team Brentford got the opener through Alex Gilbert in the 12th minute.

However, Bordeaux picked up the tempo, and they equalized through Zuriko Davitashvili in the 23rd minute. Ten minutes later, Bordeaux won a penalty. Nigeria international Maja was on hand to take it, and he finished with aplomb to make it 2-1 before the break.

Both teams huffed and puffed, but they had to settle for a 2-1 result.

Also in Spain, Paul Onuachu hit two for Genk in their friendly against Elche at the Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero.

Onuachu has been on a roll this season, scoring 15 goals in his last ten games for the Smurfs, and the big Nigerian continued with that form against Elche.

Los Franjiverdes opened the scoring for Elche in the 10th minute, but Angelo Preciado replied swiftly with an equaliser four minutes later.

Pere Milla put Elche in front for the second time in the 47th minute, but Onuachu proved his worth, scoring twice to give Genk a 3-2 victory.
