The Nigeria international has been the Neapolitans’ chief goal source over the past couple of years
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has named a futuristic strike as the most beautiful goal he has ever scored for Italian Serie A giants Napoli.
Since joining Napoli from Lilla for an African transfer record in excess of 80 million euros in 2020, Osimhen has been a goal-machine for the Naples-based club.
Osimhen has smashed 38 goals and added 12 assists in 76 matches for Napoli. It is the most goals he has managed for any single club and just as many that he registered for Wolfsburg, Sporting Charleroi, and Lille combined.
Thirty-three of those goals have been in Serie A – the most of any Nigerian to have ever played in the Italian top flight.
The nine league goals Osimhen has this season set him at the top of the goalscorer chart.
Still, Osimhen is not impressed by any of those goals when asked in an interview with DAZN which has been the most beautiful goal he has netted for Napoli.
Rather, the Super Eagles striker predicts that he will score the goal that will hand Napoli the league title. And that future strike, he maintains, will be his most beautiful in Napoli colours.
“The one that will make us win the Scudetto,” said Osimhen.
“I already dream about it. I’ve been thinking about it since I’ve been here, I can only imagine what would happen in the city if we were to conquer it. But now there is still a long way to go: what we have to do is continue to win matches.”
Napoli are favourites to end their three-decades-long wait for the Italian Serie A title.
Luciano Spalletti’s men are top of the league and boast an eight-point lead over their closest challenger, AC Milan.
The end is nowhere in sight yet, though, with only 15 league matches played and 23 more still to come.
After the World Cup break, Napoli kick off the second half of the campaign with a tough-looking away clash with former champions Inter Milan.
