A video of the Cameroon FA boss has been trending on social media after a video of him attacking a man surfaced, and fans have shared their thoughts on the issue
Nigerian fans have shared reactions to a video of Cameroon Football Federation(FECAFOOT) President Samuel Eto’o attacking a content creator on his way out of the Stadium 974 in Doha.
In an earlier report by Soccernet, Eto’o was on his way out of the stadium, and as expected, fans gathered to take pictures with the forner Barcelona star.
Amongst the fans was a youtube content creator, and after Eto’o pulled away from the fans, the content creator followed him. However, the situation soon became awry, as Eto’o appeared angered by something and attacked the man.
The issue has taken social media by storm and many Nigerian fans, analysts, and sports analysts have shared their opinions. Most criticized Eto’o for his actions, while others jumped to his defence.
A Nigerian sports analyst wrote, “He shouldn’t have reacted that way but instead, use the opportunity to address negative narratives about match-fixing in Africa.”
Another wrote: Samuel Eto’o is a great guy who’s done amazing things that deserve praises.
However, that video of him getting physical with a guy in Qatar doesn’t look good. I get he was provoked by the man but, as a football great and now FA President, he should have handled that better.
Nigerian journalist Andrew Randa wrote: ” That Samuel Eto’o video left me sad. Cringe worthy stuff. I would have ignored the journalist and walked away.”
Another journalist was highly critical of Eto’o and said: “Rage and anger, when not controlled, can destroy a man’s life. Samuel Eto’o’s image will never be the same after that assault. The world thrives on negativity, and he duly served them eternal content.”
