Super Simon leads Nantes’ resurgence against Ajaccio

The Yellow Canaries looked down and out, but Simon turned out to be their hero at the death

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon scored the equalizer for Nantes as they forced Ajaccio to a 2-2 draw at Stade de la Beaujoire.

Nantes were looking to bounce back from their loss to Reims last time out when they welcomed Ajaccio to Stade de la Beaujoire.

Super Eagles forward Simon got his fourth consecutive start for Nantes, and he was looking to produce the goods for his side.

However, both sides were unable to get a breakthrough in the first half.

Nonetheless, Ajaccio took the initiative in the second half, as Youcef Belaili and Romain Hamouma scored 25 minutes into the half to give the visitors a two-goal cushion.

However, Nantes refused to be undone, as they pulled one back through Ludovic Blas in the 70th minute.

Ajaccio held on strong to see out the 2-1 result, but Simon struck at the death. The Super Eagles forward sent a wicked cross into the box, which the keeper misjudged, leaving it to creep into an empty net.

Simon’s contribution ensured that the tie ended 2-2. Asides from his goal, the Super Eagles forward had 33 touches and an 82 percent pass accuracy.

His goal was his first since Nantes’ 4-1 victory over Brest on the 16th of October.
