The Bayern Munich youngster was one of the best stars on the pitch as the two European giants played out a thrilling draw
Jamal Musiala was the star attraction for Nigerians as Germany scored late to claim a 1-1 draw with Spain on matchday two of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Spain arrived at the Al Bayt Stadium knowing a win would guarantee safe passage into the knockout round of the tournament. The Spaniards had been ruthless on matchday one, slamming seven goals past hapless Costa Rica.
But Germany enjoyed no such luxury, having suffered a surprise 1-2 loss to Japan a few days ago. Another defeat would have dumped the Germans out of the World Cup in the group stage for a second consecutive tournament.
And for a while, it appeared that would be the outcome after Alvaro Morata came off the bench to hand Spain the lead just past the hour mark.
But Musiala came to the rescue, setting up Niclas Fullkrug for the equaliser seven minutes from time.
Aside from the assist, Musiala’s touch, skills, and dribbles had Nigerians spellbound throughout the encounter, with one Twitter user calling him the ‘real hybrid of Ozil and Zidane’.
Below are some of the words of praise from Nigerians for the Bayern Munich teenager.
“This Musiala guy is good.
The real hybrid of Ozil and Zidane.
Not that German Gabriel Obertan.”
“Musiala still making Sergio Busquets chew grass even tho it’s not Barcelona Vs Bayern.”
“Musiala will show the world today that Gavi never deserved the Golden boy award.”
“When Bayern beat Barca at the Allianz arena a couple months back Musiala got an assist but I walked away from that game thinking Pedri is the best player on the pitch. Same vibes now. Top 3 CMs around currently imo.”
“Messi this, Ronaldo that, let’s talk about the real deal, Musiala is literally carrying the whole Germany on his back.”
“Watching Musiala play football is a glorious experience.”
“Musiala can dribble herh, why do they play him on the wings bro.”
Presented on one point, Germany need to beat Costa Rica in their last group match to stand a chance of progressing to the Round of 16.
