The young striker has set the Belgian top division ablaze with electric performances, winning him several applauds
Belgian football analyst Stef Wijnants has hailed the exceptional qualities of Union Saint-Gilloise’s Nigerian import Victor Boniface.
Boniface is turning out to be the revelation of the season in Belgium after a string of eye-catching performances in the Jupiler Pro League and the Europa League.
The Nigerian forward has managed three goals and two assists in 12 appearances to help Union SG climb to fourth position on the league table.
Boniface has made even more impact in the Europa League, where he has three goals and one assist to help Union SG stay unbeaten in Group D and qualify for the next round with a game to spare.
Belgian league expert Stef Wijnants believes Union SG hit the jackpot with the Nigerian striker, who only cost €2 million when joining from Norwegian side Bodoe/Glimt.
And with Boniface’s qualities, Wijnants does not expect the 21-year-old to stay much longer in Belgium before the big clubs snap him up.
“At Union SG, they know that Boniface is a player who may be unstoppable after this season,” Wijnants told Radio 1, as per Voetbalniuews.
“He was bought for 2 million euros, which is a lot of money for them. But it is already certain that he will yield a multiple, and Boniface has already proved that he is a player who will quickly outgrow the Jupiler Pro League. Hence, a summer departure is imminent, although things can sometimes go quickly in football.”
Boniface has a contract with Union SG until mid-2026.
