Aston Villa keeping tabs on big Super Eagles striker

The Nigerian hitman has been excellent in the last three seasons, and he has caught the eye of some big teams

English Premier League side Aston Villa are keeping tabs on 6ft7 Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu’s situation at Genk.

Onuachu has been a standout performer for Genk in the last three seasons. The Nigerian goal poacher has been the club’s highest goalscorer across the last three seasons.

After a 33-goal haul two seasons ago, he was heavily linked with a Cegeka Arena exit with West Ham, Lyon, and Arsenal touted as potential destinations.

However, he was unable to leave the club, as no club was willing to meet Genk’s €35million-evaluation.

Last season, Onuachu suffered a lull because of injuries, but he still racked up 21 league goals in 35 appearances.

This season, the Nigerian hitman struggled to hit form at the beginning, but he has caught fire producing 13 strikes from 14 games.

Talks about Onuachu’s future have not stopped, as reports from Jeunesfooteaux suggest that Aston Villa are monitoring his situation at Genk.

The Villians have a new coach Unai Emery, and he could be looking to add some firepower to a forward line that has Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins.

Genk will be willing to let Onuachu leave for at least €15million as his contract expires at the end of next season, and Aston Villa may be able to meet that price.
