“Why I would pick Osimhen over Vlahovic and Immobile”- Italian pundit reveals

The Nigerian striker has been smoking hot in the last two seasons, and to some, he is the best poacher in the league

Italian pundit Matteo Bonnetti has revealed that he would pick Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen over Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic and Lazio talisman Ciro Immobile.

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille two years ago for a record-breaking €75million-move. The Nigerian striker struggled to hit the mark in his first season which was marred by injuries.

However, the 23-year-old picked up last season, scoring 14 Serie A goals in 27 appearances for the Partenopeans.

Osimhen has continued in the same vein this season. The Napoli poacher scored two goals in his first two games. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury that ruled him out for over a month.

The Nigerian striker then returned to action two weeks ago, and he has been on a roll. Osimhen has scored three goals in his last three games for Napoli, including a vital winner against Roma over the weekend.

Speaking on a show on CBS Sports Golazo, Bonetti revealed that he would rather have Osimhen in his team than Vlahovic and Immobile.

“It is easy to go with Ciro Immobile because of the number of goals he has scored, or Dusan Vlahovic because of his goals at Fiorentina.

“However, I choose Victor Osimhen because of the fear he puts in the defense. If you play a high line, he will get in behind.

“He has not had a full season, he has gotten injured in every season he has been at Napoli. If he can stay healthy for an entire season, he is a 25-goal per-season striker. But it is just more of the danger that he puts into the defense,” he said.

This season, Vlahovic and Immobile have scored two goals more than Osimhen, albeit with more games.

But with the rate at which the Nigerian striker is going, he could overtake them. Nonetheless, he would look to stay fit till the end of the season if he is going to achieve his target.
