The Nigerian striker struggled to score goals at the beginning of the season, but he has been on fire for about a month
Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has revealed that his goalscoring run is a result of consistent training and hardwork.
Onuachu had a torrid start to the season at Genk. After suffering an injury days before the Jupiler League started, the Nigerian hitman returned to action in game week 3.
Upon his return, Onuachu failed to score in six consecutive games for the Limburgers.
However, all that is past now, as the FC Ebedei product has hit six in his last four games for the Smurfs.
Onuachu netted a brace for Genk in their 6-1 drubbing of Westerlo on Tuesday, and he explained that the result was down to the quality and work rate of him and his teammates.
“Everyone did their job and knew what they had to do in the game against Westerlo,” Onuachu told Sporza as per Walfoot.
“It’s not correct to say that our opponents were weak. It’s only the result of our work. We pressed well. We played the way the coach wanted us to. we play. I’m very happy with this victory.”
Speaking on his return to form, Onuachu insists that nothing much has changed in his game
“I haven’t changed the way I play. The goals keep coming and I keep working. These goals are the result of my hard work in training.”
