On a roll! Onuachu powers Genk to victory over stubborn Leuven

The Nigerian striker started the season on the wrong note, but he has found his scoring boots and he now seems unstoppable

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu scored the only goal of the game to help Genk to a hard-fought 1-0 victory at Leuven.

Genk have been in great form all season. Asides from their opening-day loss against Club Brugge, the Limburgers were unbeaten all season.

However, they faced the tough task of traveling to Den Dreef to take on Leuven, who sit 5th on the Jupiler League log.

The night started on a wrong note for Genk, as they conceded a penalty in the opening six minutes. However, Sofian Kiyine contrived to miss the spot kick.

Unfortunately for the home side, Genk punished them a few minutes later, and Onuachu was at the heart of it.

The big Nigerian striker made space for himself in the box and sent a low drive past Valentin Cojocaru in the Leuven goal.

Leuven tried to find an equalizer before the break but Genk held on strong. The second half was all Leuven, as Genk had to play with a man deficit after Angelo Preciado was red-carded late in the first half. Nonetheless, Onuachu and his teammates maintained a strong front.

The Nigerian striker had 37 touches and a 72 percent pass accuracy before he was taken off in the 76th minute for Mbwana Samatta.

Genk held out for the 1-0 victory at Den Dreef, their tenth win of the season.

Onuachu is back to his best, as his goal was his third consecutive goal for Genk. The Limburgers sit atop the Jupiler League table, but they could drop if Antwerp win their game against Standard Liege.
