Super Eagles striker Peter Olayinka scored his first goal of the season to help Slavia Prague to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Liberec.
Olayinka missed out on coach Jose Peseiro’s squad for the game against Algeria. However, he proved a point when Slavia Prague welcomed Liberec in the Czech Republic Liga.
The Super Eagles striker doubled his side’s lead in the 23rd minute after Aiham Ousou gave them the lead seven minutes earlier.
Stanislav Tecl then put the final nail in the visitors’ coffin in the 29th minute to ensure that Slavia Prague claimed all three points. The win puts Slavia Prague one point behind leaders Viktoria Plzen.
In Croatia, Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem is fast building a big reputation. The 25-year-old scored his second goal of the season in Hajduk Split’s tough 1-0 win at Rijeka.
After dominating the first half, Hajduk Split needed a goal to show for their hard work. They did not need to wait for long, as Awaziem showed up and sent a perfectly-placed shot past Labrovic in the Rijeka goal in the 51st minute to give his side the lead.
The former Porto man also kept it water-tight in defense to block out all advances from the visitors. In the end, Awaziem’s strike proved to be the decider for Hajduk Split.
The results lifts Hajduk Split to second place on the Croatian HNL table, eleven points behind leaders Dinamo Zagreb.
