Nigerian exports: Ebuka, Amutu kickoff Egyptian PL in style; Onuachu, Durosinmi net brace

Soccernet.ng brings you the highlights of the Nigerian footballers in action for their respective clubs on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.

On the opening weekend of the Egyptian Premier League, John Ebuka scored one and assisted another as Ceramica Cleopatra ran out 3-0 winners at Al Masry.

Ebuka doubled the visitors’ advantage in the 30th minute after Mido Gaber’s 15th-minute effort bike the deadlock.

The Nigerian forward then set up Ahmed Yasser Rayan for Ceramica Cleopatra’s third on the hour mark.

Also in Egypt, Nigerian striker Austin Amutu netted the only goal as Al Ittihad claimed a 1-0 victory over Aswan at the Aswan Stadium.

In England, Nottingham Forest held Brighton & Hove Albion to a 0-0 draw at the American Express Community Stadium, with Taiwo Awoniyi and Emmanuel Dennis playing bit-part roles.

Awoniyi was introduced into the fray in the 86th minute, while Dennis sat on the bench throughout as the Reds continued to hunt for their first league win since August.

Super Eagles forward Anthony Ujah came off the bench but could not help Eintracht Braunschweig avoid crashing out of the DFB Pokal after falling to a 2-1 home defeat to Wolfsburg.

Akpoguma was a 66th-minute substitute as Hoffenheim dumped Schalke out of the DFB Pokal with a 5-1 win at the PreZero Arena in Sinsheim.

Rafiu Durosinmi scored the winning goals as Karvina secured a 2-0 at Spartak Soběslav to advance to the next stage of the Czech Cup.

After a goalless half, Durosinmi opened the scoring ten minutes after the break before adding his second on the stroke of stoppage time.

Paul Onuachu scored for the fourth consecutive game to help Genk thrash Antwerp 6-1 at the Gekena Arena.

Onuachu grabbed a brace to take his tally for the season to six goals in the First Division A.
