The Nigerian hitman has been out of action for over a month, but he will make his comeback at Amsterdam
Super Eagles striker will be available for selection for coach Luciano Spalletti when Napoli take on Ajax in their fourth UEFA Champions League game.
Nigerian lynchpin Osimhen has been on the sidelines since the 7th of September when he sustained a hamstring injury in Napoli’s 4-1 victory over Liverpool
The 23-year-old was expected to return in the first week of October, but Spalletti opted to give Osimhen more time to recover.
Moreso, Osimhen’s deputies Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone have been sensational in recent weeks. The two strikers have scored a combined seven goals in Osimhen’s absence.
However, ahead of the Partenopeans’ clash against Ajax, Spalletti has announced that the club’s record signing will be available for selection.
“We created the group like this, and Osimhen is still integral to our plans,” Spalletti said as per Napoli Magazine.
“It was a problem not to have Osimhen in the team, but the skill of Raspadori and Simeone made it so that we did not feel the need.
“Osimhen is a top footballer, now we find him and we are delighted to see him in our team. He will start from the bench.”
In the first leg of their clash in Amsterdam last week, Napoli demolished Ajax 6-1. The Partenopeans would be looking to get a good result against the boys from Amsterdam.
A victory for Napoli would seal their spot in the Round of 16 of the Champions League.
