Super Eagles will face former African champions in a friendly slated for September

Nigeria have lined up a friendly game against Algeria for September 27th as they look to use the FIFA football calendar.

The game is scheduled to hold in Oran, Algeria. The last time the North African giants faced Nigeria, they defeated the Super Eagles 1-0 in the semifinal of the 2019 AFCON.

Algeria and Nigeria won’t be at the 2022 World Cup after being denied qualification by Cameroon and Ghana respectively.

Nigeria also played a 1-1 draw in a dead rubber World Cup qualifier match in 2017 in Oran.

The game at Oran will serve as a preparation for the 2024 AFCON in Ivory Coast with Nigeria not playing a qualifying game until March.

The Super Eagles are one of the best teams in Africa while Algeria also stand as one of the best teams on the continent.

Nigeria last played friendly games against Ecuador and Mexico and both ended in defeats before the Super Eagles defeated Sierra Leone and São Tomé and Principé at the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.
