Injuries to key defenders have forced the Portuguese to reshuffle his options and hand invites to fringe national team stars
Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has called up Sochaux FC centre-back Valentine Ozornwafor ahead of the international friendly between Nigeria and Algeria.
The two former African champions will trade tackles in Oran on September 27 during the next international break.
Peseiro is yet to announce the squad to prosecute the encounter, but the injury to key players is expected to affect the former Sporting Lisbon manager’s choices.
West Bromwich Albion defender Semi Ajayi is already ruled out of the encounter after undergoing surgery, while Leganes captain Kenneth Omeruo is a major doubt for the match.
To accommodate their absences, Peseiro is looking at other options.
And Sochaux has confirmed on their official website that Peseiro has invited former Enyimba centre-back Valentine Ozornwafor for the Algeria friendly.
Currently on loan at Sochaux from RSC Charleroi, Ozornwafor has made three league appearances for the French Ligue 2 club.
Having made his debut under Gernot Rohr, Ozornwafor has two international caps for Nigeria in friendly games against Cameroon.
