Real Sociedad president reveals the five multimillion-euro add-ons in Umar Sadiq’s mega-deal

After having been linked to a host of clubs from all the major leagues in Europe, the Nigeria international finally settled for San Sebastian club

Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq ended his two-year stay in Almeria on transfer deadline day when he completed a move to fellow La Liga campaigners Real Sociedad.

Umar Sadiq is believed to have inked a long-term contract expiring in the summer of 2028.

Real Sociedad have since revealed more details regarding the deal.

President of the San Sebastian club, Jokin Aperribay has confirmed that they paid UD Almeria €20 million for the Nigerian striker. Another five million euros will be due to the Rojiblancos in add-ons and 15% on a future transfer fee.

Aperribay further gave a breakdown of the add-ons to include certain variables and milestones.

Sociedad will have to pay Almería one million euros if the Blue-and-Whites win La Liga and another 750,000 euros if Sadiq claims the league’s Golden Boot (Pichichi). Yet, another 750,000 should Real reach the semifinals of the Champions League.

The San Sebastian club would send more money to Almeria based on their participation in Europe this year and if Sadiq hits an appearance landmark in La Liga.

“They are 20 million fixed, with their payment terms and a block of variables,” Aperribay said, as per Cadenaser.

“We will pay 2 million based on our European participation and the player’s participation in LaLiga.

“If we qualify for the Europa League, it is one figure; if we qualify for the Champions League, it is another. For European shares, it can be two million, and then there are other payment milestones. One million euros if Real wins LaLiga; 750,000 if Sadiq is a Golden Boot; 750,000 if we play in the Champions League semi-finals.

“€20 million fixed, two in variables and another three for milestones, which can be one million or three million.

“Hopefully, we win LaLiga; hopefully we reach the semifinals of the Champions League, and hopefully he’ll be Pichichi.”

Sadiq has already joined up in training with Real Sociedad and will look to make his club debut when the Whites and Blues host Atlético de Madrid on Saturday.

The 25-year-old striker already has two goals in La Liga this term.
