The former Nigeria international and Real Sociedad star has sent his positive words to his countryman after picking an injury that rules him out for the rest of the season
Mutiu Adepoju has said Sadiq Umar’s injury experience can be unpalatable as he will sit out games while his teammates get to feature in them.
The former Real Madrid Castilla and Sociedad forward said it must be a devastating experience for the 25-year-old forward but urged him to move on with it and look forward to getting back stronger.
Real Sociedad on Monday announced Sadiq may miss the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.
“This is unfortunate at a time when he has just joined Real Sociedad. This is a big blow for him and the club. They will definitely miss him but this is one of the things that happen in football and no one wishes any player to have this kind of injury. However, I know he will return better,” Adepoju said.
The Headmaster as Adepoju was fondly called in his heydays for the Super Eagles said Real Sociedad will sorely miss their Nigerian import.
Sadiq was acquired just on the final day of the season after a long-drawn window which saw the player getting linked with Villarreal for the most of it.
“He has to be very strong so this won’t affect him. Also, he needs to work hard when he is back on his feet.
“As a former footballer, it is not a palatable experience seeing your teammates playing week in and week out, while you are down with an injury. It can destabilize one psychologically.”
“Real Sociedad will miss him and his presence is going to be felt because the club as it stands needs every player fit. Nevertheless, they just have to move on.”
