Super Eagles midfielder has been a rejiggered player since the former Chelsea star took over the reins at Goodison Park
Alex Iwobi has been a new man since the appointment of Frank Lampard as Everton coach.
The former Arsenal star who joined Everton in 2019 didn’t get settled at the club until the former Chelsea coach came through. He went on to be instrumental for Everton in their battle for safety last season and has continued from where he stopped this season, posting solid plays every week and becoming a fans’ favourite.
On the confidence of the fans and the coach in him, Iwobi said it gives him the room to try new things without being criticised when they don’t come out well.
“You almost feel unstoppable. You almost feel like you can do anything on the pitch,” he told Everton TV.
”Obviously the place I’m in right now… I like to play forward, I like to create chances and even if a chance doesn’t come off, the fans will still acknowledge that you’re trying and that gives me the belief that whenever I get the ball I can try an experiment on the pitch to help my teammates and bring myself to try to score. It’s a nice place to be in. Every player wants that confidence. They feel like they are unbeatable, like there’s no wrong they can do and that’s nice.”
