Gianpiero Gasperini has praised Ademola Lookman for his great performance in Monday night’s 2-0 win against Monza.
The Italian manager was excited at the prospect of his team battling for the Serie A in a season they’ve had to invest in young players to keep the team going.
Lookman, signed during the transfer window for €15m has settled to life in Italy and has impressed. He scored on his debut and also shot to life on Monday, assisting Rasmus Hojlund’s first and also helping with Marlon’s second.
Gasperini has hailed Lookman’s start to life in Bergamo and described the Nigerian winger as having an excellent game.
“Atalanta have never been on top of the table alone, the lads deserve the praise, it’s a nice thing for us and our fans. We’ll try to make it last as much as possible,” Gasperini told DAZN.
“The fans can enjoy this great moment, we know we have a lot of work ahead of the next games. We have a lot of options that are working well. Hojlund scored, Soppy played an excellent game, like Ederson and Lookman.
“Hojlund has interesting characteristics for a 19-year-old. He is a smart guy and I hope I’ll help him improve with some advice.
“It’s important to score goals because it’s how you win games, last season we stopped scoring goals and that’s why we didn’t go forward. This team has different characteristics, this season we have more pace.”
Atalanta currently lead the log with 13 points, two points above Napoli. They have won four of their first games of the season.
