The 2009 U-17 star was on the scoresheet against Slovan Bratislava on Thursday and his goal has been voted the best of the pack in the Europa Conference League
Yusuf Otubanjo’s European sojourn has had many twists and storylines.
From being scouted and signed by Atletico Madrid after the 2009 U-17 World Cup to having a nomadic European career, it’s been some journey for the 30-year-old attacker.
He would come to have one of the best moments of his career against Slovan Bratislava in the Europa Conference League as his cleanly-struck effort was considered Goal of the Week in the competition.
Otubanjo’s goal for Pyunik was nominated alongside Villarreal’s Alex Baena’s, Dnipro-1 Dovbyk, and Gent’s Odjidja-Ofoe and it was considered the best of the lot for the week.
It is the second week running that a Nigerian will be considered for Goal of the Week with Peter Olayinka nominated for the prize last week.
Otubanjo featured in the 2009 U-17 World Cup where Nigeria came second after losing the final to Switzerland in Abuja.
Currently in Yerevan, Armenia, his career has seen him play in Spain, Austria and Bulgaria.
