Europa League: Boniface grabs winner for Union Saint Gilloise in comeback victory

The 21-year-old former Bodo/Glimt forward scored the winner for the Belgian side as they rallied to defeat Swedish champions

Victor Boniface scored Union Saint Gilloise’s winner in the 71st minute of their Europa League game against FF Malmo.

The Swedes had pegged the Belgians back as early as the 6th minute before Burgess equalised in the 17th minute.

Malmo came out of the blocks again through Kiese Thelin in the 57th minute before USG’s equaliser in the 69th minute.

Boniface’s winner within two minutes of his team’s leveler sealed the deal and ensured they got a victory at home.

In other games, Moses Simon was on for 76 minutes but did little to stop Qarabag from thrashing Nantes 3-0.

Victor Olatunji helped AEK Larnaca to defeat Dynamo Kyiv at home as he started from the beginning.

In Fenerbache’s 2-2 draw against Rennes away from home, former QPR winger Bright Osayomi-Samuel was involved while Mark Ugboh was on the bench for Midjtylland as they thrashed Lazio 5-1.

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho was also left on the bench for the Cypriot side in Real Sociedad’s 2-1 victory against Omonia Nicosia.
