The Super Eagles star just moved to Southampton in the summer, but he has settled in nicely
Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo has the second-highest ball recoveries(10) in the final third across the top five European leagues according to Squawka.
Aribo left Rangers for Southampton in July, in a deal worth €7million, and he has fit in seamlessly into Ralph Hasenhüttl’s setup.
Although the 26-year-old is not yet a confirmed starter at the St. Mary’s, his German boss has shown belief in Aribo’s ability, as he has featured in all Southampton’s fixtures this season.
Aribo has one goal in his six appearances this season, but his paltry goal contribution gives a wrong idea of how impactful he has been.
According to Squawka, Aribo is only second to Ødegaard(11) for players that have won possession most in Europe’s top five leagues. Aribo trumps other top players like Neymar, Malo Gusto(Lyon), Joshua Kimmich(Bayern Munich), and Zambo Anguissa even with fewer minutes played.
The Super Eagles star would look to continue with his decent displays when Southampton file out against Aston Villa on Friday.
