It’s been a slew of withdrawals from the Super Eagles squad since the announcement of the squad to face Algeria and there is yet another one
Stand-in captain of the Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong has left the camp of the Super Eagles after suffering a fitness issue.
Ekong has since left for his base in Watford where his injury will be further assessed.
The injury came during the game against Algeria and has seen the player leave the camp immediately for further attention.
“William Troost-Ekong has left camp as a result of an injury cropped during the test game yesterday. He is back to base for further checks. Wishing you a speedy recovery Ekong,” a tweet from the Super Eagles official handle revealed.
The player also confirmed the news and wished the team the best on Tuesday.
Ekong’s absence means there may be a starting berth for either Kevin Akpoguma or Kenneth Omeruo as they are the other right central defenders.
The Super Eagles will face Algeria in Oran on Tuesday after playing a 2-2 draw against the North Africans’ B team on Friday.
