The Nigeria international did not see a single minute of action during the narrow defeat to the Desert Foxes a couple of days ago
CD Leganes have confirmed the arrival of Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo to Spain following his time in Algeria.
Omeruo has been away from Leganes for the past ten days as he honoured a national team call.
Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro invited the former Chelsea defender for the international friendly with Algeria.
But Omeruo did not make it off the bench as the Super Eagles fell to a 2-1 defeat to the Algerians inside the Olympic Stadium in Oran on Tuesday.
Lorient striker Moffi opened the scoring for the Super Eagles after only nine minutes in that match. However, goals from Riyad Mahrez and Youcef Atal, either side of the halftime, turned the tie in favour of the North Africans.
Omeruo remains one of the Super Eagles’ most respected stars as he is one of only two surviving members of the Nigerian squad that lifted the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
And a day after that encounter, Omeruo landed in Spain, where he teamed up with Leganes.
Named as Leganes’ team captain at the start of the campaign, Omeruo will look to lead the Cucumber Growers when they make the trip to Albacete Balompié for Sunday’s La Liga 2 matchday eight clash.
Leganes are struggling in the Segunda Division, sitting precariously in the relegation zone at 20th of 22 teams.
Imanol Idiakez’s men have won only one and drawn just one of the seven league matches played.
Omeruo appeared in all of Leganes’ first five league fixtures this term before picking up a knock two weeks ago.
