The Nigerian striker continues his journey, as he joins his fifth club in five years
Super Eagles striker Junior Lokosa has joined Saudi Arabia club Al Rayyan from Nigeria Professional Football League side Kwara United.
Lokosa broke into the limelight in 2018, after his heroics for Kano Pillars when he scored 19 league goals.
The 28-year-old narrowly missed out on a spot in Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup after Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr dropped him for Simi Nwankwo.
Since then, Lokosa has played for three different teams. The Badagry-born forward joined Tunisian giants Esperance in 2019, but he left the club just a year later.
Lokosa then moved to Tanzanian side Simba SC in 2021. But his contract was terminated just barely three months into his stay.
Lokosa returned to the NPFL last season, and he had a decent campaign with Kwara United, scoring eight goals to help them to a fourth-place finish.
Nonetheless, Lokosa will not be featuring for Afonja Warriors, as he has put pen to paper for Saudi Arabia side Al Rayyan.
Lokosa becomes the fourth Nigerian in the Saudi Professional League after Odion Ighalo, Tosin Adeniji, and Ogenyi Onazi.
