Super Eagles star joins Croatian club on loan

The Super Eagles defender has teamed up with six-time Croatian champions ahead of next season

Chidozie Awaziem has joined Hadjuk Split on a season-long loan from Portuguese club Boavista.

Awaziem played last season at Turkish club Alanyaspor, where he struggled to get back to the starting eleven after going to the AFCON.

He didn’t play a single game at the competition but had to deal with a competition at his club at the time.

Boavista have made the announcement on Monday while Awaziem was also unveiled by the club.

“Boavista FC, Futebol SAD informs that it has reached an agreement with HNK Hajduk Split for the loan of the player Chidozie Awaziem.

“Good luck, Chidozie!, ” the Portuguese club announced.

Awaziem has not had a stable club career since he left FC Porto. He played on loan in the La Liga with Leganes before the Spanish club got relegated.

The versatile player’s nomadic career has also see him play at Rizespor and Nantes in the last few years.

In his first interview with the club, he said; “I know that Split is a beautiful city and that the fans are very passionate and love football.

“I also like football, so we are very similar in that. I came to Split to give my best and to fulfill our goals.”
