The Porto star had been linked with the seagulls, and with Cucurella’s transfer to Chelsea, and
Spanish fullback Marc Cucurella has completed his £52.5 million transfer from Brighton to Former Premier League champions Chelsea.
The former Barcelona man had been strongly linked with a switch to Manchester City since the transfer window opened. However, Chelsea swooped in for him at the dying minute.
Super Eagles fullback Zaidu Sanusi was expected to replace Cucurella at the Amex Stadium. The Porto man had been linked with some Premier League clubs, of which the strongest was Brighton.
However, it seems a deal for Zaidu may be off the Seagulls’ cards, as it is believed that part of the bargain for Brighton was the inclusion of a one-year loan for Chelsea defender Levi Colwill.
Colwill will spend next season with the Seagulls, and Brighton could choose to rely on the 19-year-old.
The England international spent last season at Huddersfield, and he impressed in the Championship. Colwill is a natural center-back, but he could also fit in at left-back.
With this, Brighton may decide not to push for a deal, especially as Porto are not willing to let go of their Nigerian star.
