“He will get his goals” – Ex-Tottenham star positive about Awoniyi

The Super Eagles forward scored Nottingham Forest’s first goal on their return to the Premier League and is backed to do more

Taiwo Awoniyi has been backed to score lots of goals for Nottingham Forest after making his Premier League bow two weeks ago.

The Nigeria international was one of The Reds’ many recruitments in this summer’s transfer window. After starting his last two Premier League games and impressing in both of them, he has been backed to bring the goods by a player who was once at the club.

Now a football pundit, Jermaine Jenas played for Forest and Tottenham who will be at The City Ground on Sunday in a week 4 Premier League game.

He weighed in on Awoniyi and other signings made by the club.

“There’s still a lot of pressure on Jesse Lingard and Morgan Gibbs-White to go and get those goals and the boy from Germany Taiwo Awoniyi,” Jenas said.

“(He) Awoniyi is going to get his goals. That’s where the pressure is going to be.

“Jesse is an interesting one. I think that his start has been quiet if I’m honest but I do think that there’s more to come from him.”

Nottingham Forest will be looking to defeat the impressive Tottenham on a ground they’ve shown to be electric with their fans buzzing at the stands.
