Here is Soccernet.ng‘s highlight of a few Nigerian footballers who got their names on the goalscorer’s sheet for their respective clubs on Tuesday.
Cremonese’s poor start to life in the Italian Serie A continued as the newcomers – parading David Okereke and Cyriel Dessers – fell to a 3-1 defeat at Inter Milan.
Goals from Correa, Barella, and Lautaro Martínez handed Internazionale a healthy three goals lead before Okereke bundled home a late consolation goal for the visitors.
While the former Club Brugge attacker now has two goals in four league games for Cremonese, Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers is still chasing his first goal for the Grey and Reds.
Dessers played for 67 minutes inside the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza before he was replaced.
At the Stade Crédit Agricole de la Licorne, Nigerian youngster Tolu Arokodare hit the target as Amiens managed a stale 1-1 draw with visiting Paris FC in a Ligue 2 matchday six meeting.
Arokodare opened the scoring on the hour-mark for his third league goal of the season. But Jonathan Iglesias’s equaliser six minutes later earned a share of the spoils for Paris FC.
Also in Ligue 2, one-cap Super Eagles striker Josh Maja scored one and supplied the assist to two others as Bordeaux romped to a crushing 4-0 triumph over Quevilly Rouen.
In Cyprus, Nigerian forward Ezekiel Henty marked his return to Europe with the winner in Apollon’s 1-0 win over Enosis in the game week one clash of the 1.Division.
Henty had spent the second half of last season on loan at Saudi Arabian club Al Hamzy after leaving Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava.
But his return of no goal in nine appearances ensured it was a shortened spell.
But the 29-year-old’s 24th-minute strike inside the Tsirion Athlítiko Kentro earned Apollon all three points at stake. It also ensures that the Lagos-born striker begins his loan adventure in Cyprus positively.
