The Belgian giants are resigned to losing their leading striker, who is inches away from a dream move to the Italian Serie A
Racing Genk will welcome a new Nigerian striker as they say goodbye to Cremonese-bound Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers.
Dessers is reportedly on the verge of a move to Serie A new boys Cremonese, with Genk expected to pocket €6.5 million from that deal.
The former Heracles Almelo forward starred in Genk’s victory over Eupen at the weekend and bade fans farewell afterwards.
Genk is not losing sleep over Dessers’ potential departure, though.
The Limburgers have top striker Paul Onuachu back from injury, with the 28-year-old making the bench against Eupen.
Regardless, Genk will still work on bringing in another attacker before the transfer window closes.
And according to De Morgan, Genk football director Dimitri de Condé is already working on getting a deal done for teenage Nigerian striker Victory Beniangba.
Raised at the Dream Boys Football Academy, Victory Beniangba is presently at the Young Boys Football Academy in Abuja.
The highly-rated youngster already has a taste of the Nigeria Professional Football League while on loan at Bayelsa United in 2020.
Beniangba also impressed on loan at Egyptian side Tala’ea El Gaish earlier this year. The 19-year-old scored six goals in 18 Premier League appearances and also found the net in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Beniangba will initially join Genk’s youth team in the Challenger Pro League when the deal to Belgium is completed.
