Alex Iwobi proved to be Everton’s brightest spot against Chelsea as he made his new left central midfield role his to master
Chelsea legend and Everton manager, Frank Lampard has hailed Iwobi’s performance against Chelsea despite playing in an unfamiliar position.
The rejuvenated Iwobi has played in a variety of positions for Everton, showing his skill and versatility.
Against Chelsea, the task was different as he was paired alongside Abdoulaye Doucoure in a midfield double pivot.
Iwobi played creditably well in the game providing two key passes that almost led to an Everton goal.
Lampard was full of praises for the Super Eagles midfielder and praised his humility and willingness to play anywhere for the team.
“I thought Alex Iwobi was brilliant in the number six role,” Lampard said after the game.
”Because of his attitude, personality and humility, it doesn’t matter [where he plays]. I thought him and Abdoulaye Doucoure played very well in midfield today.”
The Toffees faithful were full of praises for the Nigerian midfielder’s performance.
