Besiktas keeping tabs on Nigerian Manchester City Academy product

The youngster has been brilliant for his side this season, and Besiktas could swoop in for him this summer

Sixteen-time Turkish Super Lig champions Besiktas are monitoring Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.

Dele Bashiru is a product of the Manchester City Academy, but he failed to climb up the ranks at Manchester.

Nonetheless, the 21-year-old midfielder joined English League One side Sheffield Wednesday in 2020. Since he joined the club, Dele-Bashiru has made 49 appearances, scoring four goals and assisting three.

However, the former Manchester City man has not really made his mark at the club, as he made just 24  league appearances last season.

The Star reports that the 21-year-old Nigeria-eligible midfielder could be on his way out of Hillsborough, as former Turkish champions Besiktas are monitoring his contract situation.

Dele-Bashiru has a year left on his contract at Sheffield Wednesday, and he could leave the club for free at the end of next season if they refuse to sell him, and that is not an option for League One club like Wednesday.

As such, the Owls may be tempted to sell the player. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is currently valued at €300000 as per transfermarkt. The 21-year-old is the brother of Watford man Tom Dele-Bashiru.
