Super Eagles star looking to seal N4.9bn Southampton move

The Saints want the Nigerian international and may be looking to fork out £10m for his services

Southampton have indicated a strong interest in procuring the services of Super Eagles midfielder, Joe Aribo.

Aribo who has had three solid years at Rangers has refused to put pen to papers on a new deal at Ibrox and is eyeing a move to the Premier League.

The former Charlton Athletic man had previously been linked with a move to Nottingham Forest but latest moves by Southampton according to The Athletic show they’re in prime position for the transfer.

Aribo, 25, played the highest number of games of any footballer in the world last season and was immense in Rangers’ first league title win in 10 years in 2021. He was also pivotal to Rangers run to the Europa League final last season and scored in the game against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The versatile midfielder who’s capable of playing in a variety of positions wants to leave Rangers on an amicable note as he has had the best period of his life so far at Ibrox.

He’s however interested in teaming up with Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side ahead of next season and will be yet another Nigerian in the Premier League should be complete the move.
