Super Eagles star alerts Villarreal, Everton with first preseason goal

The Nigerian international showed his quality in the friendly runout for the Hornets, reminding his suitors of what he has to offer

Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Dennis has alerted Newcastle and Everton of what they could be missing after putting on a brilliant performance for Watford on Saturday afternoon.

Five Nigerians were involved in the match.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye came in at the break. William Troost-Ekong and Samuel Kalu, and William Troost-Ekong were introduced at the hour mark.

Former Flying Eagles midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru came into the fray 15 minutes from time.

Dennis was on target as Watford emerged comfortable 4-1 winners over Wycombe Wanderers at London Colney.

Senegal forward Ismaila Sarr handed the Hornets a two-goal lead before Dennis added a third in the second half.

The former Club Brugge ace made a very clever turn midway inside the Wycombe half and spotted the run of Pedro down the left, and found the Brazilian with a measured pass.

Pedro carried the ball into the box and sent in a crossed that was deflected up in the air – Dennis had kept running and was first on the scene to prod the ball home.

Ryan Tafazolli reduced the deficit for Wycombe Wanderers shortly after, but substitute Yasser Asprilla added Watford’s fourth in stoppage time.

With his impressive showing, Dennis is making it clear that he is head and shoulder above Championship level.

The 24-year-old attacker netted ten goals in the Premier League last season, arousing interest in several clubs, including Villarreal and Everton.

Those sides are yet to make an offer for Dennis weeks into the transfer window.

But they may have been reminded of the Nigerian’s quantity with his first goal of the pre-season.
