After Nottingham Forest were reported to be interested in Super Eagles forward, new reports have emerged on a change in their targets
The Reds have reportedly put a deal off for Emmanuel Dennis after renewing interest in Burnley’s Ivorian forward, Maximillian Cornet.
Forest have made significant investments ahead of the new Premier League season with notable signings made in the Watford forward’s compatriot, Taiwo Awoniyi and Jesse Lingard.
Dennis has a £25m valuation by Watford and that has contributed to difficulties in securing a transfer from the Championship side.
Cornet, who is at Burnley, also in the Championship is targeting a move to the Reds as his release clause is £17.5m, lower than the Nigerian star’s.
The former Lyon forward scored 9 goals last season, less than Dennis’ 10 goals and 6 assists in 33 Premier League games.
According to the Daily Mail, two-time European Cup winners have put the Dennis interest aside for the time being.
Dennis signed for Watford from Club Brugge for £3m and proved to be an instant hit at Vicarage Road but his returns didn’t prove enough for the Hornets to stay back in the elite division.
