Inter Milan favour move for Serie A teen wonder with Nigerian roots, as Chelsea close in on Dumfries

Juventus, Lazio, and some of the biggest clubs abroad have been credited with an interest in the Italian youth international

Inter Milan would prefer Udinese youngster Iyenoma Destiny Udogie as the ideal replacement should Chelsea complete a move for Dutchman Denzel Dumfries.

Dumfries has shone brightly with his pace and power in the Italian Serie A since arriving from the Netherlands last year.

The 26-year-old contributed five goals and four assists in 33 league matches last term as Inter finished second behind AC Milan.

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is a big fan of the former PSV and Sparta Rotterdam full-back, and reports claim the Blues have their mind set on a multimillion euro swoop.

If Dumfries departs for London, L’Interista claims Inter Milan will turn to Italian fullback of Nigerian descent Destiny Udogie as the Netherlands international’s replacement.

Udogie impressed in his first full season in the Italian top flight last season, contributing five goals and four assists (similar to Dumfries) in 35 matches at just 19 years of age.

Udinese have slammed a €20 million transfer fee on Udogie, but it should be no worries for Inter with Chelsea ready to pay twice that amount for Dumfries.

Lazio are one of numerous sides keeping a close eye on transfer development around Udogie.

Udogie, who officially joined Udinese permanently on July 1st, has four years left on his contract with the Zebras.
