“He can be better than Samuel Eto’o” – Super Eagles star urged to snub Bayern Munich, Manchester United advances

Several European giants have been linked with a move for the Nigerian international who has been likened to the Cameroon legend

One-time Juventus midfielder Sunday Oliseh has drawn a comparison between Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen and former Cameroon and Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o.

Oliseh is convinced that Osimhen has the potential to become even better than Eto’o should the young Napoli forward continue his development in Naples.

Once regarded as one of the finest strikers in the world, Samuel Eto’o featured for some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Real Madrid, Chelsea, and Inter Milan.

Noted for his hunger, commitment, and no-holds-barred style of play, Osimhen has a lot in common with the Cameroon football legend.

The Super Eagles striker is also frequently linked with a move to some of the world’s wealthiest clubs.

Manchester United and Bayern Munich are two of the clubs that can still sign the Napoli forward before the summer transfer window closes. Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Newcastle United were also reportedly interested in Osimhen in the recent past.

Although, Napoli’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli has made it clear that no offers have been officially received for the 23-year-old.

Oliseh does not doubt that his younger compatriot can excel anywhere he chooses to go from Napoli.

The former Super Eagles head coach, however, charges Osimhen to ignore all transfer advances and remain with Il Partenopei, where he can work to get even better.

“He (Osimhen) has all the qualities to excel at the club so I think he should stay,” Oliseh told the Punch.

“I’m happy to see him now finally doing his thing, he can be better than Samuel Eto’o if he keeps up with his scoring form.

“One thing is certain, should any team get (Victor) Osimhen, they will move strikingly up to another level.”

Osimhen is Africa’s most expensive transfer, having moved to Napoli from Lille in a deal worth more than 80 million euros.
