Everything Oshoala said after winning award the CAF female Player of the Year

Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala was crowned CAF female Player of the Year for a record fifth time in the awards ceremony held in Rabat, Morocco.

Oshoala’s feat ensures that she usurps Legendary Nigerian striker Perpetual Nkwocha as the player with the highest number of Player of the Year awards.

It was a well-deserved win for the Barcelona Femini ace, as she was incredible for her side last season.

Oshoala won the Laliga Femini Golden boot last season after banging in 24 goals. She also played a role in her side’s Copa de la Reina triumph.

Unfortunately, injuries prevented her from transferring her club brilliance to the National team.

Still, with Ajara Nchout Njoya(Cameroon) and Grace Chanda(Zambia), the 27-year-old was always the favorite to be crowned Africa’s queen of football.

After receiving her award, Oshoala shared her elation at her feat and shared her vote of thanks.

“It’s a record-breaking night for me as an individual and for Africa as a whole,” Oshoala said.

“I got five today, five!

“First of all, I want to thank everyone that really helped me out throughout my career.

“2021/2022 season was really tough for me as an individual.

“I’d like to say thank you to everyone who stood by me. This year made me realize that if you don’t fall, you won’t know the meaning of a comeback.

“Special thanks to all my teammates from my club FC Barcelona, to my national team players- the amazing and best National team in the world, the Nigeria national team.

“Of course special thanks to my president, president Amaju Pinnick. Thank you so much for all the work you put in to make sure we have the best football in our national team.

“It’s really amazing the kind of effort that you put in.

“And of course my team, we had a heartbreak couple of days ago. I’m gonna dedicate this award to the Nigerian women’s national team.

“This is for you all because you showed Africa what a strong heart is and not backing down even when your team was ten-man down, you kept on going.

“Thank you very much, God bless you.”
