The Nigerian contingent in the Italian top-flight could experience an increase should the Little Zebras complete the deal for the Super Eagles striker
Italian first division side Udinese are the latest club to be linked with Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis following his brilliant maiden campaign at Watford in the English Premier League.
Dennis smashed in ten goals and provided another six assists in 33 league games for the Hornets, but it was not enough to save the Golden Boys from relegation to the Championship.
The former Club Brugge winger’s versatility and eye for goal make him the darling of many suitors, with West Ham believed to be leading the race for his signature.
2022 UEFA Champions League semifinalists Villarreal are also huge admirers of the 24-year-old.
But Udinese may have jumped ahead of that queue, according to a report by Gazzettino, as per Calcio Udinese.
The Little Zebras are set to lose key man Gerald Deulofeu to Napoli and have identified Dennis as a possible replacement.
Should Udinese become serious in pursuing Dennis, the Serie A side will be the favourites to land the Nigeria international as both Udinese and Watford are owned by the Pozzo family.
Several Nigerian stars have been involved in transfer dealings between the two clubs.
Odion Ighalo moved from Udinese to Watford in 2014. Super Eagles vice-captain William Troost-Ekong followed the same route two years ago, while compatriot Isaac Success joined Udinese from Watford last summer.
Former Barcelona star Deulofeu himself moved from Watford to Udinese in 2020.
