The Super Eagles star played a big role in helping his team stay afloat in the Premier League last season, and he is ready to give more to help his team succeed
Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has promised to give his best to Everton to help his side avoid last season’s disappointment and achieve success at the highest level.
Everton had a very poor campaign last season, waiting until the penultimate match of the season before they were assured safety.
The Merseysiders looked down and out with about ten games left in the Premier League. But a late surge led by former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard saved their blushes.
Iwobi was having a poor season until that late surge. He was one of the most maligned Everton players at the time, but he picked form just in time to help his side.
The Nigeria international started Everton’s last twelve Premier League games. Lampard used Iwobi in different positions. Iwobi played in defense, midfield, and attack, and he gave a very good account of himself.
In fact, the Super Eagles star soon became one of the most popular names at Goodison Park.
The 26-year-old is currently on holiday, but he affirms that he would be ready to give it his all when the new season resumes in August.
“My first couple of years here weren’t the greatest but this [the final weeks of the season] was my best period at Everton,” Iwobi said via Everton FC.
“I want to use it as a platform to kick on and make more positive memories with this club.
“I am youngish and have a lot of time ahead.
“I want to win something with Everton – and do my best for the Club.”
Everton begin their Premier League campaign with a home fixture against Chelsea on August 6th. And Iwobi would have to go the entire nine yards if he wants his side to begin the season on a good note.
