The former Hellas Verona player enjoyed a good season last term and is looking to get an invitation to represent the Italian national team
Destiny Udogie has stated his preference for emulating Angelo Ogbonna and Stephano Chuka-Okaka than representing the Super Eagles.
Ogbonna was chased by the Nigerian national team when he featured for Torino but refused every call to play for the Super Eagles.
Chuka-Okaka had also earlier been an interest to the Nigerian selectors but chose to play for Italy instead while he starred for AS Roma.
Udogie, one of the Serie A’s brightest prospects has also revealed he’d rather he represented the Azzurri than play for his country of ancestry.
“I will do everything to make myself appreciated by the coach, it is a goal that I particularly care about,” he told Tuttomercatoweb.
The 19-year-old wing-back is also thrilled by the links he’s had with big clubs since last season and said he’s focused on his current club.
“It is very nice to be approached by top-level clubs.
“I live it serenely and thinking about the field. My agents think about the market, they know my thoughts and have my total trust,” he said.
