The Nigerian star had an incredible campaign last season, but his contract expires by the end of June, and negotiations with his employers have failed to yield fruits
Turkish Lig 1. side Goztepe have lined up Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme as one of their targets this summer.
Nwakaeme had a brilliant campaign with Trabzonspor last season, scoring 13 goals and assisting ten in the run-up to their league triumph. He formed a strong force in the Trabzonspor attack with his ability to bulldoze past opponents.
However, it seems his time at Trabzon could come to an end soon, as his contract expires at the end of June, but he has refused to renew the deal.
According to reports, the Super Lig champions are unwilling to meet his financial demands, and that has been the reason for the standoff.
Another Turkish side albeit lower tier could be looking to capitalize on the impasse, as Super Lig reports that Goztepe are looking to sign the former Hapoel Beer Sheva man.
Goztepe have a new President Rasmus Ankersen, and the Danish businessman could be willing to splash the cash to help his side return to reckoning.
Nonetheless, it would be a tough ask, as it is hard to see Nwakaeme leave top-tier football for second-tier football in Turkey.
