Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso in the final of the WAFU Zone B Cup to qualify for the 2023 African U-17 Championship in Algeria
Five players of the Golden Eaglets were named in team of the tournament announced by the West African Football Union (WAFU).
Goalkeeper Richard Odoh, defenders Jeremiah Olaleke, Emmanuel Michael, Yahaya Lawal and forward Abubakar Abdullahi were all mentioned as part of the team.
The Nigerians were undefeated throughout the tournament with Ghana, Ivory Coast, Togo and Burkina Faso all getting defeated by the Golden Eaglets.
Nduka Ugbade was also named as coach of the tournament. Other players named are from Benin Republic, Burkina Faso and Cote D’Ivoire.
Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso 2-1 in the final and both teams have picked tickets for the African U-17 Championship.
Michael, who scored three goals at the tournament – all free kicks was the cynosure of all eyes at the tournament with Abdullahi also providing answers late in the tournament with three goals in his last two games.
