The Londoners have to bring in a top-rated striker this summer after letting the Belgium international return to Inter Milan
A section of Chelsea FC supporters has called on the club to hasten the process of bringing in Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen as a possible replacement for the departed Romelu Lukaku.
After struggling in the English Premier League during the 2021-22 season, Belgian forward Lukaku has returned to Inter Milan on a loan deal reportedly worth €8 million plus add-ons.
Chelsea are already looking to fill in the gap left by the former Everton forward, with discussions reportedly centred around Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Lille’s Jonathan David, Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca, and Everton’s Richarlison.
The Super Eagles star will, however, not leave Italy on a cheap as Napoli insist they are not ready to listen to any offers less than €100 million. Osimhen is presently the most expensive African transfer in history.
Arsenal and Manchester United have tested Napoli’s resolve about the 23-year-old, but both teams have had offers rejected by the Neapolitans.
The English media continues to link Arsenal to Osimhen, but some Chelsea fans believe he is the ideal player to replace Lukaku and fire the Blues to glory next season.
Some of the fans’ reactions to the report linking Chelsea to Osimhen are shared below.
“Ideally, Victor Osimhen will be a prolific replacement for Lukky (Lukaku) in my own books.”
Osimhen, though, has reiterated his desire to stay for at least one more season in Naples.
The former Lille ace has a contract with Napoli until the summer of 2025.
