West Ham begin transfer negotiations with Super Eagles striker

The Hammers are in the market for attacking reinforcements this summer and are wasting no time in getting their business done for an exciting Nigerian forward

West Ham United have taken a significant step forward in their pursuit of Super Eagles attacker Emmanuel Dennis, who is currently on the books of Watford FC.

Hammers boss David Moyes had Michail Antonio as the only recognised centre-forward at his disposal, with the 32-year-old Jamaican appearing in 35 of his team’s 37 league games, scoring nine goals.

Only Englishman Jarrod Bowen hit double figures (12) for West Ham this campaign as the Hammers are set to finish in the Europa Conference League qualifying spot.

Dennis, though, can be an excellent addition for the Londoners, the Nigerian attacker notching ten goals and six assists for Watford in only his maiden season in the Premier League.

His versatility could also come in handy for any astute manager as he can be deployed across any position in attack.

And with Watford relegated to the Championship, Dennis could be open to staying in the top flight, especially with a club guaranteed European football next term.

And according to respected transfer market insider Pete O’Rourke, West Ham have met and opened negotiations with Dennis’ representatives.

“West Ham are stepping up their bid to signal Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis after holding talks with his representatives this week in London.”

Dennis only arrived at Watford in August for €4 million but could cost West Ham four times that figure to become the latest arrival at the London Stadium.
